More Layered Embellishments Projects with Samantha, Laura, and Christa!

Design team member Samantha Sibbet made me squeal out loud when she sent me this cute card for the blog using our "Toys for Boys" Layered Embellishments.  I LOVE the "baby" trail of stitching!  Here's what Samantha had to say ... "Pebbles is really good about keeping scrapbpooking and paper crafting FUN.  I love the new line of layered embellishments, there are so many to choose from, the designs are adorable and I love the colors!  To make this card, I made a template of the word baby, layered it over my pattered paper, pierced holes and hand stitched."

Design team member Laura Vegas created this cute and "pun"ny (get it? hee!) card set using the "Yellow/Orange Fruits" Layered Embellishments.  Here's what Laura had to say ... "When I first saw the fruit set of layered embellishments, I immediately thought of making cute and funny cards using them. There are so many fun sentiments you can come up with, by using a play on words for each fruit. You can even google sentiments, which is what I did for the lemon card. The obvious choice would be "When life gives you lemons, make lemonade". But if you got my lemon card in the mail, when you were feeling down on things, wouldn't my sentiment put a smile on your face ;)"

"I am in love with all the new cute layered embellishments Pebbles came out with this release.  I had a hard time choosing which ones to use, but I'm a bit of a cloud fanatic so I knew these were perfect!  Although these are adhered together really well, it is still manageable to deconstruct and reconstruct them to use how you wish.  I took a button off of one and replaced with a glitter dot, then took the top layer off of another felt cloud and added it to a larger.  Very easy!"

Design team member Suzanne Sergi created this joyful layout using lots of Happy Go Lucky papers and our "Blue Buttons" Layered Embellishments.  Here's what Suzanne had to say ... "When I came across this sweet photo of my little girl, I knew the Happy Go Lucky collection was the perfect match. Macie has such a colorful personality that is big and bold. The Glee paper is designed with big and beautiful flowers that simply made my photo pop off the canvas. I used a diecut to be the background for the lovely flower stickers in this collection. I needed one final detail for this page, so I turned to the fabulous new Layered Embellishments collection. With a huge assortment to choose from, I finished the top of my page with one big felt button. I love the added texture it gives my page!"

Product Parade: Dimensional Stickers

Hey everyone! Today we are focusing on one of my favorite Pebbles products ... Dimensional Stickers! Add a fun layer of dimension to all your paper crafting projects with Pebbles Dimensional Stickers.  Dimensional Stickers are featured in all of our most recent collections and come in lots and lots of shapes and sizes.

Design team member Mimi Leinbach created this gorgeous layout using lots of dimensional stickers from the Happy Go Lucky collection.  Here's what Mimi had to say ... "This layout is all about my favorites, my favorite color is purple, my favorite flower is hydrangea and my favorite Pebbles line is Happy Go Lucky! I just love the dimensional stickers ... they make scrapping easy. Plop one of them down and you have instant texture and dimension. I decided to take the same idea of the layered dimensional stickers and add pop dots to my punched circles which I layered and loved the look. So simple, so easy and totally dimensional."

Design team member Melinda Spinks created this stunning layout using her wedding photo - just look at what a beauty she is!  Here's what Melinda had to say ... "When asked to create a project using dimensional stickers I was a bit worried that I wouldn't be able to use them in a way that would highlight how versatile these little embellishments can be. I find them to be one of the most under-utilized of all the embellishments and personally think they are little individual pieces of artwork in their own right. So rather than using just one sticker from one collection, I decided to do a cluster of the stickers from different collections, kind of like hanging multiple pictures in different frames on a wall. By using the black and white backdrop I was able to build the dimensional stickers into a feature around the photo of my husband and I on our wedding day... and I'm not going to tell how long ago this day was!"

"I made this card for one of my daughters closest friends, I wanted to make more of an impact than an ordinary card would, so I decided to make a step up card - they have so much depth to them and you can create a scenery, or a little fairytale picture fit for any 9 year old to become a princess.  The Ever After collection is so magical with all the added bits of glitter! Design team member Savitri Wilder created this gorgeous card inspired by a previous layout design.  Here's what Savitri had to say ... "Last week I created a layout using a few butterfly die-cuts. The die-cut template I used can produce five butterflies in different shape and size. I had a few more left and decided to use one of them for this card. I also did a bit of stitching and paper piercing on the banner. Pebbles has these awesome chalk stencils and they are so perfect to add a bit of needlework to any project. All I did was put the template over the area I wanted the image to be on and using a piercing tool and foam (usually comes with the piercing tool) I created little holes for where my needle will go. I just eye-balled the whole piercing process, no measuring whatsoever! I have a few different embroidery thread and while watching my little one play I stitched. To make the banner fun, I just used the stencil and with a pencil made a banner outline. Cut around with some good scissors and adhere (you might want to trim it a bit to fit inside the stitched outline). To not crowd the card I added a few other small pieces and the end result is this clean and simple card."

How To Tuesday

First things first, I have a winner to announce from last week's "Spring" giveaway. Thank you all so much for your comments. And the lucky winner is ...

Congratulations! Please email your full name and mailing information (including your phone number for shipping purposes) as well as your choice of Pebbles collection to pebblesincdt(at)gmail(dot)com and put "Spring Winner" in the subject line.

Also if you haven't seen yesterday's post with our new mid-release collection Floral Lane you'll want to check it out and be sure to leave a comment for your chance to win this gorgeous collection!  You have until midnight tonight to enter to win!

Today's "How To" post is brought to you by the very talented Wendy Sue Anderson.  Wendy Sue shows us how to create fun dimensional embellishments.  Here's what Wendy Sue had to say ... "Today I’d love to share a fun little technique to make your own dimensional accents.  The thing I love most about these little babies is that you can make them to coordinate with ANY collection, and the possibilities are limitless!"  And here are Wendy Sue's step by step instructions ...

First you'll need to gather your supplies.  Here's what you'll need: paper scraps, random buttons (you can use any color, but if you have colors to coordinate with your papers, that’s even better), circle punches in various sizes, Mod Podge, sponge brush, and a small file or sandpaper.

Punch several circles from patterned papers.

Place punched circles over buttons – it’s best if the paper circle is slightly bigger than the button, but it will still work even if it’s slightly smaller, you will just be able to see the button around the edges.

Use Mod Podge to attach the paper to the button, apply another layer over the top of the paper.  Allow to dry (this is the most difficult and time consuming part of the entire process!).  If you want to apply a second coat of Mod Podge, do so now (I usually do not use a 2nd coat – I am not patient enough).

Use the file to lightly sand the edges of the paper off of the button.

Use your fun new accents on cards, scrapbook pages, gifts, and whatever projects your heart desires!

Just a few tips:
  • Be patient and allow Mod Podge to dry completely before sanding – otherwise you’ll rip the paper … and that’s not pretty!
  • If you want the button color to show as a border around the edges, just punch the paper with a smaller punch and center the paper on the button when applying Mod Podge.
  • You can do a LOT of these at once … I like to do a bunch and then I just store then in my button jars with the coordinating colors.
  • This is a wonderful way to really stretch your supplies – you can get a lot of these little accents out of scraps you might otherwise throw away!  (Don’t forget to use the tear strips on your Pebbles papers – they are perfect for smaller buttons).
  • Don’t feel limited to round buttons – you can use any shape, just hand-cut or use a different shape punch – when you sand the edges, you will get rid of the excess anyway.
  • Have fun!
