Design team member Suzanne Sergi used both the May Bouquet collection from Pebbles and the Botanique collection from American Crafts on this absolutely adorable layout of her daughter. Here's what Suzanne had to say ... "When I saw the color palette of the Botanique, it reminded me of flowers, spring, and of elegance. The colors are soft, and very feminine. I knew I had a perfect snapshot of my daughter wearing a strand of pearls. She was dressed very casual on this day, but before we left the house, she wanted to "dress up", her outfit. She slipped the strand of pearls around her neck, and stated she was ready! She is full of surprises, so I added a little shimmer mist, to add a little "spice" to these gorgeous papers. Designing this page with American Crafts and Pebbles was very simple. The beauty of their products is that their papers feel like that they are from the same color palette. I was able to create with beautiful, elegant papers and add a little bit of whimsy by incorporating the May Bouquet collection."

Design team member Liz Qualman combined the May Bouquet collection from Pebbles with the Abode collection from American Crafts - a very unexpected combination but one that totally works! Here's what Liz had to say ... "These photos were taken at my son's 1st birthday party and he was very interested in eating his cake, thus the journaling, "You can have your cake and eat it too." I thought it was a fun idea to mix the Pebbles May Bouquet collection with the American Crafts Abode collection. The color palettes compliment each other perfectly. There is a large strip of the Abode striped paper at the bottom of the page, but to change it up a bit at the top of the page I cut the polka dotted May Bouquet paper into 1.5 inch squares and then varied the heights. I also added pop dots to three of them to make them stand out and added buttons for more interest. I created a large bold title with the Dear Lizzy Thickers and then added a May Bouquet journal tag decorated with a little My House chipboard piece and a May Bouquet sticker flower. Overall the layout has a bright birthday feel, but is grounded in some nice earthy tones."

More Earth Day Projects with Deanna and Emeline!
Design team member Deanna Kroll created this adorable layout of her son and why Earth Day has a particularly special meaning to her. Here's what Deanna had to say ... "My son was the inspiration behind this layout for Earth Day. Earth Day is special to me for more than just being able to celebrate making out planet better. It’s also very special because my son was born on Earth Day back in 2004. Each year is quite easy for me to remember my son’s special day because I think of him and Earth Day together, and we try to do something for Earth Day together on this day and make it a “BEarthday.” Adorable Deanna - I love the paper hills with trees and flowers!

"When I think of Earth Day, I instantly think of recycling and ways that I can incorporate everyday products into my layouts, instead of throwing them out! For this layout, I have repurposed a used takeaway coffee cup and a packing box. The waffle pattern on the coffee cup was just fabulous, and it was easy to peel the outer layer off, then punch out into stars. The stars were finished off with Pebbles Candy Dots. I also peeled the top layer off the packing box to reveal the waffle core. This box actually held all of the Pebbles Inc products sent to me when I joined the DT ... love that I've reused it for a Pebbles layout! Have a look around your surroundings and see what you can reuse." Lovely Lisa!

Theme Week: Earth Day!
Hi everyone! In honor of Earth Day this coming Thursday, April 22nd I've asked some of our design team members to create a project with this theme in mind. As a nature lover myself I was excited to see what this talented group of ladies came up with and they most certainly did not disappoint!
Design team member Liz Qualman created this fabulous layout using some of our new Tree House collection - perfect for a project with a nature theme! Here's what Liz had to say ... "For Earth Day I wanted to send the message that our planet is just as important to the animals as it is to humans and since animals cannot voice their concerns, humans need to be better advocates for our furry friends. I snapped this photo while hiking a few summers ago and was surprised that the little guy in the photo did not have much fear of us, but then he lives in a national forest where he and his environment are protected. I used my circle cutter to make the square 3x3 journal tag into a round one and if you look closely, you can see that instead of saying so sweet like the original tag, it now says SOS. I made the message on the tag come from the fox's point of view, "I need this planet as much as you do. Please keep it clean for all of us. - Mr. Fox."
Pebbles supplies used:
Tree House 3x3 Cards (751024)

Design team member Mimi Leinbach not only created a project with a nature theme but recycled a paint chip and used paper scraps for her project - how clever! Here's what Mimi had to say ... "I could not do an Earth Day project without including recycling of some sort. To create my background I used a large paint chip made by Behr Paint. All the paper used in this project came straight from my Pebbles scrap bin."

How To Tuesday
Today design team member Celeste Smith is going to show you how to make the fun handmade flower on the sweet birthday card pictured below. First, here's what Celeste had to say about her inspiration ... "I was inspired by a tutorial I saw on the Enjoy It! blog that used computer paper to make a garland of these flowers. I thought I'd give it a shot with patterned paper." Here are Celeste's step by step instructions to create this project ...
First you will need to gather all of the materials pictured below which include papers from the Lil Miss Collection, one piece of book paper, one piece of yellow paper, one piece of green paper, one piece of white computer paper, scissors, tape runner, and a pencil.
Since drawing on patterned paper with pencil is hard to see, on the white computer paper draw by hand four different six petal flowers varying in size from 3" for the largest to 1" for the smallest. Alternatively, you could use flower punches to make your stack. I like how the freehand drawing makes them look more realistic.
Cut around the flowers and adhere them to the wrong side of your patterned paper. Then cut the flowers out. I kind of neatened them up as I went along. Then gently peel the white computer paper of the backs of the flowers.
Cut a small circle out of the yellow paper making sure it is small enough to fit inside your smallest flower.
Cut the leaf out of the green paper. You can make this a little bigger than one of the petals on your biggest flower. Also cut out a tiny green circle to put in the middle of your center flower.
Now you have all the pieces ready to assemble your flower. To give the flowers more dimension, roll the petals inward around your pencil.
To give the leaf a little more dimension fold it in half gently.
To make the center, cut fringe around the outside edge of the yellow center piece. Fold the edges of the fringe up for dimension and adhere the little green circle to the center.
Adhere the flowers in a stack. Adhere the center to the flowers, tuck the leaf behind the finished flower, and adhere to your card.
Thank you Celeste for this wonderful tutorial! If you get the opportunity to make some of these handmade flowers using Celeste's technique be sure to leave a comment with a link - we'd love to check out your projects!
